Dr. Lynch: Uses the Most Progressive Techniques for Knees and Shoulders

Dr. Lynch and his staff answered all my questions with kindness and respect before, day of, and after my surgery.

Norwalk’s Joint Replacement wing was private, clean, and comfortable. The entire nursing staff was gentle, and responded to my needs immediately. Don’t risk going to a “good” doctor for joint replacement. Because Dr. Lynch uses the most progressive techniques for knees and shoulders, six weeks after my TKR I feel great! I highly recommend this group for such an important procedure.

Dr. Frank: Next day I could walk on my feet

My name is Chris from Stamford, CT. I have been sick for the last month, could not walk.

My friend had to come to my house, take me out of the house. Went to several doctors, went to the hospital, but could not bend my knee, could not walk. My doctor made an appointment for me to see Dr. Frank in Darien, CT. Got there on a walking stick, went inside. I was out in one hour. Next day I could walk on my feet. It was great. It’s been great so far. Thanks Dr. Frank. Thanks a lot.

Dr. Sealey: Got me moving again

I have had three separate foot surgeries with Dr. Sealey. All were successful and the outcomes were in line with anticipated results.

He was "dead on" with recovery expectations and his constant reminders that these surgeries require up to a full year to realize the complete benefit. I now walk between 40 and 50 miles per week for exercise. Before Dr. Sealey, I was lucky to do 20. If I make 75 years, in part it will be because Dr. Sealey got me moving again. In the meantime, I do enjoy being pain free.

I have 100% range of motion and am pain free

In June, Dr. Frank performed a frozen shoulder release, bicep tendon repair, labrum repair, and subacromial decompression on me.

At 8 weeks post surgery I have 100% range of motion and am pain free. Dr Frank is a highly skilled surgeon and a very caring physician. He spent a great deal of time with me discussing the procedure and anesthesia which involved wearing a catheter for pain management for 8 days. My procedure was a bit more complex than most shoulder arthroscopy surgeries and as such carried increased risks. I did not have a single complication and am absolutely thrilled with the end result. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Frank’s skill, expertise, and kindness.

Dr. Henshaw: He's my guy

Amazing! Despite a second opinion from HSS in Manhattan, I opted to go with Dr.Henshaw (who trained at HSS).

I had such great results on my right rotator cuff that I didn't hesitate to have him do my left rotator cuff, both shoulders requiring a substantial amount of re-structuring, and both outcomes great. Add to that a truly caring and engaged demeanor, and Dr. Henshaw is your guy.

I Felt Confident in the Care that My Daughter Received

My daughter broke her arm last week at school. We were told to bring her to OrthoConnecticut in Norwalk by our pediatrician.

I want to thank everyone there for the for the tremendous care my daughter received. From the person that checked us in, to Greg Jenkins, to the x-ray technicians (sorry I don’t remember their names), and finally Dr. Soojian. Everyone was gentle and kind, and did their best to comfort my daughter (and wife) during this stressful time. Most of all I felt confident in the care that my daughter received, and was relieved that a specialist was on sight to lead her care.

Dr. Bast: He cares and he listens

I had a fever and was in a lot of pain when I saw Dr. Bast this past week.

He was very attentive to my needs; he took the time to think over the symptoms I described, and more than once took the time to be personable and friendly, making me feel at ease. He took x-rays, and then invited me to look at them with him while discussing my pain. He involved me in the diagnostic process and took my concerns seriously. He spent a great deal of focused time with me, which is why, I gather, his wait time is longer than average. I’m more than okay with this. He cares and he listens. I will certainly return to his care if need be.

I Will be Forever Grateful

I met the folks at OrthoConnecticut about 15 years ago when I had the misfortune of breaking my ankle in a sledding accident (no kidding).

It was Thanksgiving Day and luckily Dr. Paul Protomastro was on duty and fixed up a pretty complicated multiple fractured ankle—after a couple of months I was good as new.

I am now 59 and started to feel pain in my right knee while skiing. I went to OrthoConnecticut and met Dr. Michael Lynch who quickly diagnosed the issue as a loss of cartilage.

We started off with minimalist solutions like cortisone and synovatic fluid injections, icing and a highly specialized “unloader”kn‎ee brace. This went on for about four years. Later in the year, Dr. Lynch and I decided to give it one last ski season but if things did not improve, we would consider knee replacement.

In May, I had the right knee (replaced) and in September, the left knee.

During that process I had multiple check ins with Dr. Lynch to ask questions about my recovery. Three months after my second surgery I took a trip to Italy and Spain over Christmas and did a lot of walking with no significant issues. By the next January I was ready for the acid test: skiing. I skied for two days about 5 hours a day. No swelling-no pain. Since then, I have skied another six days and I am happy to say that I am back to a skiing form I had when I was in my twenties. While I am still in my first year, these surgeries have made my life a lot happier. For me giving up skiing was unthinkable and I am thrilled I did not have to. Whatever your situation, I can say that once you come out on the other side of TKR, it will be worth it-but you need to put in the time on therapy.

And most important—I have Dr. Michael Lynch to thank for this-I will be forever grateful for his skill and bedside manner. He was a real listener during the several years he was treating me and always was encouraging while being straight to the point. The staff at Norwalk Hospital was top notch as well.”
