Sayegh, M.D., is a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity orthopedic surgeon specializing in the surgical and non-surgical care of conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand in adult and pediatric patients. His passion is treating people affected by their impairment and restoring them to peak functional capacity. He is skilled in providing comprehensive care using minimally invasive strategies to treat traumatic and sports-related injuries to bones, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. In addition, he specializes in more chronic conditions such as nerve compression, arthritis, and tendinopathies. He has particular interests in microsurgical techniques for complex nerve reconstruction including nerve transfers, vascular conditions, tendon transfers, and soft tissue reconstruction. Furthermore, he specializes in treating complex shoulder conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, shoulder dislocations/labral tears, and arthritis. His general orthopedic surgery training also provides him with expertise in treating various injuries involving the lower extremities. Dr. Sayegh completed a prestigious hand & upper extremity fellowship at Wake Forest School of Medicine, including microsurgery. Before that, he completed his residency in general and orthopedic surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center & North Shore University Hospital at Hofstra/Northwell Health where he was honored with the Resident of the Year award. In his final year, he served as administrative chief resident and teaching associate. He graduated at the top of his class from the Jacobs School of Medicine at SUNY Buffalo with summa cum laude distinction, research honors, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Sayegh has contributed to the field of orthopedics through his research publications, textbook chapter contributions, speaking assignments, teaching opportunities, and volunteer work. He has been honored to receive numerous awards including the Stanley E. Asnis Clinical Excellence Award and was inducted into the C. McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum. He is board-eligible in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery. He is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Sayegh is focused on providing the best clinical care to his patients by listening to their needs and providing individualized treatment plans, all while practicing current evidence-based medicine.
